Dr. Liviu Horovitz

Postdoctoral Researcher International Security


Liviu Horovitz is a Swiss National Science Foundation (SNF) Postdoctoral Researcher in the International Security cluster at IES. He is interested in US foreign policy, IR theory, and qualitative research methods. Liviu's is finishing up a book on the United States’ desire for military preponderance within the current international system. He received a PhD from the ETH Zurich and has most recently been a postdoc at Johns Hopkins SAIS and a predoc at Harvard’s Kennedy School. Prior to his doctorate, Liviu was a nuclear policy researcher at the Center for Security Studies in Zurich, worked for the Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization in Vienna, and was a research associate at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies in Monterey. His work has been printed or is forthcoming in, for example, the Journal of Strategic Studies, Journal of Cold War Studies, European Security, International Spectator, Washington Quarterly, Nonproliferation Review, or Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists.
