PhD Researcher European Foreign & Security Policy


Elie Perot has joined the IES as a PhD researcher in October 2016 and is part of the International Security cluster. His doctoral research focuses on the Euro-Atlantic repercussions of the Ukraine crisis through the lens of strategy.

Previously, Elie has carried research work on nuclear deterrence and missile defence for the Fondation pour la Recherche Stratégique (FRS) (2015). As an intern, he has also worked as a speechwriter for the General Director of the French National Police (2013), as well as in the Defence Office of the French Embassy in Italy (2013) and in the Conseil d'Etat (France's supreme court for public law) (2012).

He holds a Master in Public Affairs from Sciences Po Paris, (Summa cum laude) (2014) and a M.A. in European Political and Administrative Studies from the College of Europe, Bruges (Chopin Promotion 2015-2016).

In september 2017, he was awarded the 'Young Researcher Prize' (Prix du jeune chercheur) at the annual symposium of the French Association for Defence and Security Law (AFDSD - Association Française de Droit de la Sécurité et de la Défense).

He speaks French, English, Italian and a bit of Spanish.
