Asma Akbar has joined Institute of European Studies in September 2017 as a PhD researcher and is the part of International Security cluster. Her focus of research is security conditions of Pakistan.

 She is lecturer and FDP Scholar of The Women University Multan, Pakistan. Prior to that, she has served as visiting lecturer in department of International Relations and Department of Gender Studies for two and half years in Bahauddin Zakarya University Multan, Pakistan.

She holds a Master in International Relations and Master in Philosophy of International Relations(with distinction) from Bahauddin Zakarya University Multan.
