23 Oct 2013 12:00
23 Oct 2013 14:00

The Institute for European Studies at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel kindly invites you to a policy forum on 23 October, 12:00-14:00h with:

  • Prof. David Vogel, University of California at Berkeley and
  • Dr. Patrick Ravillard, DG Environment, European Commission

The United States led the development of ambitious environmental policy in the 1970s and 1980s. In recent decades, the European Union has pioneered a number of environmental policies. Prof. David Vogel compares and explains the transatlantic shift in environmental leadership in his award-winning book “The Politics of Precaution: Regulating Health, Safety, and Environmental Risks in Europe and the United States” (Princeton University Press). He will present the main findings in his presentation. Dr. Patrick Ravillard will contribute a practitioner’s perspective on EU and US environmental policy and transatlantic cooperation.

The policy forum starts at 12:00 with a lunch reception and will be followed by the discussion at 12:30. Participation is free of charge and open to all but due to space limitations, registration is mandatory. Please register here!
