Call for Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships at the IES

 The Institute for European Studies (IES) at Vrije Universiteit Brussel is seeking to host researchers under the premise of the EU's Marie Sklodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships cohort. The fellowship allows for individuals to spend between one and two years at the IES with the purpose of supporting career development, training, and enhancement of creative and innovative potential of experienced researchers through international, intersectoral mobility.

New candidates would join Chantal Lavallée and Jan Claudius Völkel, who started their Marie Sklodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships at the IES in the Spring of 2017.

The Institute for European Studies is an academic Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence and policy think tank dedicated to furthering research and education in multiple disciplines relating to European Union foreign policy and governance within a global setting. IES research principally embraces a wide range of European studies including law, economics, social science and political science. The IES is particularly interested in candidates wishing to pursue research within the realms of: Environment and Sustainable Development; Migration, Diversity, and Justice; International Security; and European Economic Governance. To qualify as candidates for the fellowships, individuals must:

  • possess a doctoral degree OR at least four years of full-time equivalent research experience
  • not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Belgium for more than 12 months in the 3 years before the overall final application deadline (14 September 2017)
