Dr. Gosia Gorska is a Policy Officer in the Human Rights Division of the European Union External Action Service, formerly in DG External Relations of the European Commission. She joined the IES as a Senior Research Associate in 2011 focusing her work on the EU’s external policies, in particular human rights and democracy promotion as well as humanitarian aid. She also cooperates as an expert with the European Council on Foreign Relations and the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights.
Previously, Dr. Gosia Gorska worked as an academic assistant and researcher at the European Studies Centre, St. Antony’s College, Oxford University. She also participated in several research projects in the Department of Politics and International Relations and the Centre on Migration, Policy and Society, Oxford University. Dr. Gosia Gorska gained professional experience in the EU Delegation to the International Organisations in Geneva, the Polish Embassy in London, and the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Warsaw.
Dr. Gosia Gorska holds a PhD (2007) and an MA (2005) in Political Science and International Relations from the Jagiellonian University (Krakow, Poland). During her studies, she completed a graduate research programme in International Relations at St. Antony’s College, Oxford University, under the British Council Chevening Scholarship and the Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship Fund. She also conducted research within the OSCE Researcher-in-Residence Programme and the Council of Europe Visiting Researcher Scheme.
