Senior Associate Researcher

Activities

Magdalena is a Senior Associate Researcher at the Institute for European Studies (the Education Development Unit) where she gives lectures, supervises MA dissertations and works on her current research project. She is also an Assistant Professor at the European Studies Department of Poznan University of Economics in Poland (main affiliation).

Magdalena Sapala holds a PhD in economics with the specialization in European integration. She is an expert on the EU cohesion policy and the EU budget.

Since 2010, dr Magdalena Sapala has cooperated, in the capacity of advisor, with dr Jan Olbrycht, Member of the European Parliament. Her advisory tasks were concentrated on issues relating to the EP Resolution on the new Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) and the revision of the Financial Regulation applicable to the EU general budget. Currently she is focused on new provisions for the EU cohesion policy for 2014-2020.

Dr Sapala is a dedicated trainer in the EU cohesion policy and structural funds management for business and regional institutions in Poland, and assesses business investment projects co-financed by EU regional development funds (ERDF) in the framework of the Regional Operational Programme in Wielkopolska (Poland).

Her current research project focuses on the implementation of the partnership principle in cohesion policy with reference to the role of business and its representations.
