Ernesto Roessing holds a Masters Degree in International Law from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (Florianópolis, Brazil) and a Specialization in Foreign Trade from the Federal University of Amazonas (Manaus, Brazil), besides holding Bachelor Degrees in Economics and Law.



Ernesto Roessing is particularly interested in issues related to climate change and forest policy. His research at the IES focuses on the interplay of various simultaneous REDD+ rulemaking processes at the subnational, national and international levels.

Aside from that, given his background, Ernesto is more generally interested in the environmental aspects of issues of private international law and international trade law, as well as in general international environmental law.
