Katja joined the IES in June 2007. The focus of her research is on the external effects of EU environmental policy, in particular chemicals and electronic waste policy. She analyses the diffusion of EU environmental policy in a multi-level governance setting.
 
From June 2007 to January 2009, Katja worked on the European Commission-funded research project “Assessing the potential of various instruments for sustainable consumption practices and greening of the market” (ASCEE).

Katja studied political science at Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen, University of Technology Sydney and Université Libre de Bruxelles. She holds a Masters degree from College of Europe in Bruges. From 2005 to 2007, she worked EU Affairs Manager at a trade association representing high-tech companies where she dealt with environmental and consumer protection policy.
