Mehmet Y. Tezcan received his Bachelor of Science in International Relations (Honors) from Middle East Technical University (METU) in June 2001 and his Masters in European Integration & Development (magna cum laude) from Free University of Brussels (VUB) in July 2002. He completed the doctoral training program (magna cum laude) in the Department of Political Science at VUB in 2004. He is at present PhD candidate at the same department. He has been Researcher at the IES since April 2005. His current research project focuses on the EU foreign and security policy system in the making. Mehmet Y. Tezcan previously worked in the Department of Political Science at VUB in 2004-2005 as part-time researcher, at the Center for Studies on Turkey (ZfT) in Essen in 2001 as researcher, in the Representation of European Commission to Turkey in Ankara in 2000 as intern, and in the Undersecretariat of Foreign Trade of Turkish Prime Ministry in Ankara in 1999 as intern. He is also member to British International Studies Association (BISA) since 2004; affiliate member to the Evolution, Complexity and Cognition group (ECCO) of VUB since 2005; alumni of Forum Europe Foreign and Security Policy, German Council for Foreign Affairs (DGAP) since 2003; participant in the 1st Garnet PhD school at ULB, Belgium in December 2005 and in the Spring School in Complexity Science at University of Southampton in April 2006.
