Dr. Magdalena Sapala
Magdalena Sapala holds a PhD in economics with the specialization in European integration. She is an expert on EU cohesion policy and the EU budget.
Magdalena joined the IES in 2011, first as a Senior Associate Researcher and since October 2012 as a Postdoctoral Researcher and Lecturer at the Education Development Unit. She is also associated with the European Studies Department at Poznan University of Economics in Poland where in 2000-2012 she worked as an Assistant Professor. Since 2010, dr Magdalena Sapala has cooperated, in the capacity of advisor, with dr Jan Olbrycht, Member of the European Parliament. She is a member of the think-tank "Think Silesia" which is a group of experts on EU cohesion policy reform for 2014-2020 programming period.
Dr Sapala is a dedicated trainer in the EU cohesion policy and structural funds management, she assesses business investment projects co-financed by EU regional development funds (ERDF) in the framework of the Regional Operational Programme in Wielkopolska (Poland).
Her research interests include: Multi-level Governance and the partnership principle in EU cohesion policy, institutional aspects and decision-making process of EU cohesion policy and the EU budget.
