Workshop EU Research Funding
Workshopping EU Research Funding: Two-day Workshop on Socio-economic Sciences and Humanities Streams
Aim of event
The training workshop aims to bring together scholars from different European universities active in the field of European Studies and to provide them with all necessary knowledge and tools to apply for FP7 funded projects. To this end, speakers who have worked for the European Commission in this area and scholars who have successfully applied for FP-funded projects in the past from both academia and think tanks have been invited to provide background information and guide participants through the application process. The workshop is strategically divided into two days. During the first day participants will be introduced to the structure of the FP7 programme, the calls for proposals and the work programmes. The key part of the training is the research factory workshop on the second day, which includes practical exercises to apply the gained knowledge. Moreover, the event aims at fostering exchange of experiences between the participants and hereby improving the chances of success in the application process.
Relevance of event
Today, scholars find it a real challenge to apply for FP-funded projects because of the dense amount of information provided and the obscure language in the calls. This two-day workshop addresses this challenge by providing a targeted training regarding the various problems faced by scholars in the application process from formulating a decent research question to understanding the financial rules. The two-day training workshop will contribute to the coordination and exchange of information and experiences regarding the application for EU funding for teaching and research on EU matters between different scholars as well as to the promotion of contemporary EU studies through increased participation and success in the application process for FP7 funding.
