Introduction
Every year in July, the Institute for European Studies (IES) teams up with the University of Vienna and the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna to organise the inter-university Summer School on European Policy-making. The intensive two-week programme is held one week in Brussels and one week in Vienna.
Who for?
- Packed with lectures, study visits and simulation games, this programme attracts students and young professionals who wish to broaden their knowledge of the European institutions, European law and the European decision-making process in general.
- Aside from being a valuable asset in professional life in general, the Summer School has proven to be a great help in preparing for the EU competitions to select future officials.
Our alumni can be found not only in the European institutions, but also in national administrations, law firms and academia. For the period 2012-2014, the Summer School will receive Jean Monnet funding, as recognition of its excellence.
IMPORTANT: As of 2012, the Summer School has received official accreditation from the VUB. The Summer School corresponds to 5 credits (equivalent to 5-ECTS credits). When you register for the Summer School, you also benefit from free access to the online EU-modules. If you decide to sit the examination for these EU-modules you can receive a further 20 ECTS, making a total of 25 ECTS-credits for the Summer School and EU-modules.
