Identity, power and cultural issues in translation at the European Parliament

Fulbright Fellow Stephanie Kent will lecture about identity, power and cultural issues in translation at the European Parliament on Wednesday 29 April from 18-20.00 in the Roma Room of the Institute of European Studies at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Pleinlaan 15, 5th Floor).

Kent, from the University of Massachusetts titles the talk “Simultaneous Interpretation and Shared Identity in the European Parliament: A Look at Language and Organizational Creativity." A certified sign language interpreter, Kent’s research is in the field of communications and intercultural studies. A recent publication is “ A Discourse of Danger and Loss: Interpreters on Interpreting for the European Parliament’.
