Academic qualifications
A selection of 40 students from all over the world are admitted annually, after a careful selection process. The Master in International and European Law is in the terminology of the Bologna European educational area a post-graduate "Master after Master" programme. Application for selection to attend the Programme may be made by persons who have completed their study of law and have received a law degree which is equivalent to the Belgian "Licentie in de Rechten" (J.D., Licence en Droit). Students are eligible to apply when they have completed their study of law and have received, in accordance with the requirements in their host country, a final law degree that provides access to the legal profession or to the qualifying exams for admission to the Bar. The equivalence of foreign degrees will be decided by the Academic Board of the Program. Students are selected on basis of their academic qualifications, as well as their work experience as shown by their study results and recommendations. The size of each promotion is limited to around 40 students.
Language of Instruction
The language of instruction for the Programme is English (courses, seminars, papers and examinations). Non-native English speakers need to provide proof of knowledge of English (e.g. TOEFL-test [min. score 238] or Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English - CPE (any grade). The Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English - CAE (grade A) is also acceptable for the course.
