Alison E. Woodward

Prof. Alison E. WOODWARD (Oberlin College, B. A., M..A.; Ph.D. University of California, Berkeley) is Research Professor and teacher at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. She is co-director of the Centre for Gender Studies and Diversity Research at the VUB and Senior Associate Fellow at the Institute for European Studies. She has taught and researched at the Universities of California, Uppsala, and Antwerp, Ruhr University, Wayne State University, Rutgers University, the Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin, European University Institute, the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, and the Belgian National College of Architecture and Urban Planning. Her research interests are in the fields of European Union governance and comparative public policy and organisation, especially in the areas of civil society, diversity and equal opportunities. She serves on the editorial boards of Equal Opportunities International and the European Journal of Women’s Studies. Her current research is on gender and transnational social movements in the EU.
