The IES environmental cluster organizes cluster meetings to share the knowledge of each member of the cluster in given fields of environmental studies. These meetings are open to (VUB) students for the coming academic year.
The first seminar is based on the new book by Ronald B. Mitchell, International Politics and the Environment, chapter 2: "Defining and distinguishing international environmental problems". The main issue under discussion here is what definitions to employ: where does the "environment" begin and end? The particular issue here is the relationship between human sciences (environmental policy/politics/law) and science.
