Congratulations to Viktoriya Petrikova, former IES-VUB student, who has won the Franz Stein Memorial Award Competition for her article "The New Common Commercial Policy: Who has the power to conclude investment protection treaties post-Lisbon? – The EU and/or its member states", which formed part of her LLM thesis.

The Franz Stein Memorial Award Competition was sponsored in 2011 by Law Publishers Europe.

Zoran Milanovic, who become Croatia's Prime Minister at the end of December 2011, is a former PILC student at the VUB. He graduated from the programme in 1999, having worked in Brussels for a few years as an advisor to NATO and the Croatian mission to the EU.

We are delighted to announce that Olli Rehn, Vice-President of the European Commission and Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs and the Euro, will be our guest speaker at the 40th anniversary celebration of PILC.

The event will take place on 5 May 2012 in Brussels at Chateau Saint-Anne. All PILC alumni, as well as current PILC students, are highly welcome at the event.

IES has set a date and venue for the 40th anniversary celebration. It will take place in a castle in Brussels, and will include a dinner and guest speakers. Further information will be available shortly.
